Fitler - El Salvador, Finca Del Hoyo, Gesha

Exquisite Gesha coffee from the area around the Ilamatepec volcano in the Apaneca mountain range, located in western El Salvador. Grown on the Finca Plan del Hoyo farm that has 60,000 trees planted on 14 hectares of their 100 hectares farm. It was started by Francisco de Sola, who in 2005 chose to focus on specialty coffee and invest in different coffee varieties. 

Although Finca Plan del Hoyo has been challenged by large amounts of rain and the general hard work involved in harvesting the coffee berries, Francisco's descendants manage to grow exceptional and complex coffee of very high quality, which has also been selected for the Cup of Excellence.

They harvest coffee here from January through March typically. Coffee is picked as ripe cherry and dried on raised African beds as whole cherries for Natural processing. 

Picking labor and heavy rains have proven to be a challenge for Francisco, but he believes in the future of specialty coffee and is invested in producing exceptional coffees in Apaneca.
